Debut Restaurant's New Look is Unveiled

The Debut Restaurant at City College Norwich has unveiled its stunning new dining area and kitchen facilities, following a major summer refurbishment.  Inspired by the designs of some of the country’s top restaurants the new look Debut will give customers an even better dining experience, whilst students will benefit from the very latest facilities.

The stylish and contemporary new interior of the restaurant was inspired by modern restaurants, whilst the elite new kitchen has undergone a complete refit similar to the facilities to be found at Michel Roux’s Waterside Inn.  A striking feature of the restaurant is a new private dining area with glass walls that allows diners to see the college’s trainee chefs applying their skills whilst preparing top quality food from fresh locally sourced ingredients.

Sustainability was a key consideration in the redesign of the Debut, allowing for more efficient use of resources in its operation as a restaurant and training facility for students.  This includes a brand new pastry kitchen featuring displays which show students how much energy is being used in the kitchen at any given time.

The refurbishment is part of the College’s commitment to giving its students the opportunity to train in real work environments – the restaurant is open to the public, so students get experience of preparing and serving food to paying customers – in modern facilities that are on a par with the latest industry standards.  Students also benefit from the Hotel School’s extensive links with local employers in the hospitality and catering industry, ensuring that they are equipped with the skills and experience that employers want.

Steve Thorpe, Head of the Hotel with Hair and Beauty School, said: “The updated Debut Restaurant and kitchens will enable us to continue to deliver world class skills, giving our students the opportunity to work with the very latest equipment in the best possible environment.  The experience of working in these enhanced facilities will provide a fantastic preparation for future employment in hospitality and catering”.

Dick Palmer, Principal, City College Norwich said: “The Debut Restaurant, which already has an established reputation for its excellent facilities, service and food, has just got even better!  As well as being a great example of a 21st Century training environment for our students, it is a fantastic place for members of the public to come and dine”.

The Debut Restaurant is open Monday to Friday, serving lunch daily (12 – 1:30pm), coffee, tea and pastries, with fine dining events on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7pm.  To book a table, or to hire the exclusive new private dining area for your event or function, please call on (01603) 773 227.
