Solutions Salons Earn Dual Seal of Approval

Solutions, City College Norwich’s hairdressing and beauty therapy salons, have met the required standards in order to achieve recognition in both the Good Salon Guide and the Good Training Guide.  These key professional benchmarks will further enhance the salons’ reputation for offering first class hairdressing and beauty treatments to the public, and as an excellent place in which to train.

The Good Salon Guide is the only independent guide to quality standards in hairdressing and beauty in the UK and Ireland and has around 2,000 professional salons listed.  Every salon is fully inspected by a professionally trained assessor before it can enter the Good Salon Guide.

The Good Training Guide helps potential trainees, parents and salon owners make an informed choice about the best training establishments in their area.  The Good Training Guide works to promote high standards across the hairdressing industry.

The recently refurbished Solutions Hair Salon, based on the college’s Ipswich Road campus, is open to members of the public daily during term time, offering everything from simple cuts through to colouring treatments, perms, hair straightening or a complete hair makeover.  Solutions Beauty Salon provides a wide range of treatments, including spa treatments, massages, aromatherapy, stone therapy, sun beds, jacuzzi and St Tropez tanning.

Under the close supervision and management of the College’s expert staff, Solutions provides a professional service and excellent value for money.  Both salons are an example of the college’s professional learning model, which seeks to develop students’ vocational skills and knowledge within industry standard, employer-endorsed learning environments.

Joanne Hobbs, Head of the School of Hair and Beauty Therapy Industries, said: “I am delighted that Solutions Hair Salon has achieved Good Training Guide recognition in addition to being in the Good Salon Guide.  We get lots of positive feedback from our students and also from customers of Solutions Hair Salon.  Being in the Good Training Guide now provides an added reason for prospective trainees to come and learn all the skills necessary for their career in hairdressing with us”.

Dawson Penn, Chairman of the Good Training Guide, said: “I am delighted that City College Norwich has succeeded in reaching the standards required to achieve recognition by the Good Training Guide. The Good Training Guide offers potential trainees, parents and salon owners information about the best training establishments in their area, allowing them to make their choice with confidence”.
